Well. This is it. My thousandth day of sketching — and my final day of posting to this blog.

But I won’t stop sharing my art completely! Since this blog is almost out of space for images (I think I have 0.7% of my allotted space remaining), I’ve created a new one to hold me over until my website is finished: The Weekly Painting. I haven’t started posting there yet, but I will soon. As the name implies, I will post a painting (or a work in progress) once a week, more or less.

Thank you for all your support! I have come a long way.

I decided to play with transparency here. I worked on translucent yupo paper last night, so I painted scrap strips of it and placed some above and below.

I felt like playing around with watercolor on yupo paper. I haven’t done that in quite some time.

It feels very strange that I only have a few days left.

I’m working on blue paper for this one, and I’m still using this new brand of pastels. They’re not as creamy and sensual as Schminke, but they are still nice to work with. I will have to see how they hold up on sanded paper.

I thought it might interest you to see the process so far, so I’ve posted three images below.

First I laid in the clouds:

Then I roughed in some of the color for the rocks:

Then I smoothed out the color and added a few highlights to the water:

I purchased some new pastels, and I wanted to play with them a little bit.
